Use this thread to discuss about the beta version. Don't use this topic for bug reports: there are two more threads dedicated to these already!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, at least this part matches the boardgame rules
Joke aside, I, for one, welcome the new rule, including the 0 success on both sides, as it really gives importance to the lock/dodge mechanic. Closing in with a character to block the opponent is now a real strategy, whereas before it was more like wishing upon a star. It's also a meaningful way of dealing with level 1 characters that were usually criticized for being a bit too powerful on this forum by "some" people .... O: )
Well I think that is the issue no? Currently in the beta, the figure pool is literally every team combination possible in the ranked matches. Which makes for very unstable and unintentional teams if the goal is to have fair, healthy and competitive matches. Real world tournaments can be of the more controlled Season restricted format or instead a "for fun" enternal format where older figures can still be used so long as they use their eternal profiles assuming they have one.
At the moment online beta ranked reflects a meta that will be untenable unless they reserve the "Ranked" format to match the real world seasonal rotations and then create a new match option for "Eternal" format. Similar to the "Challenge" and "Krolossium" formats we already have. By pressing the Ranked or Eternal match buttons the player would know going in what he might be up against.
For beta the main idea is to test the new figures, new rules and new rewards. So in general this is not a huge deal at the moment, but I would argue that Ankama is not doing themselves and favors by allowing access to "ALL" figures for the purposes of testing. Because having played many matches since the start of beta I have seen teams consisting of mostly existing tried and true combinations and none of the new figures. I suppose you could say they are testing the rules and rewards against the old figures?
Nonetheless, I am hoping that when the testing is over they plan on releasing the public version with a separate eternal match option and the ranked option becomes reserved for the actual current meta of real world tournaments.
If they don't and also choose not to include eternal profiles then the online will not reflect any sort of real world testing bed or meta that can exist anywhere else. It would not do Ankama any good to leave it like that so I honestly do not expect them to leave it this way. I anticipate these modes will come online in waves or updates etc.
Well, by that logic, the one trying to dodge doesn't put forth any effort either. Keep in mind that the one trying to dodge already has it easier because they have better odds to roll a boot than the opponent has to roll a magnet (assuming equal amounts of dices rolled)
Currently and as always the pairing system will not under any circumstances pair you with any player that you have had a match with win or lose unless you have had at least 3 matches with 3 different players. Then and only then will the system once again pair you with someone you have played a match with.
Usually this is fine. However, so far as I can tell there there is no expiration for this condition. Which means days can pass, and unless you have had 3 other matches you will not be paired with someone you have previously had a match with.
Again, usually this is fine. Except when there are basically about 5 to 6 players total playing the beta at all. What this means is that there are literally so few players now that they can't even get matches with each other until they have managed to get matches with at least 3 different players they have not previously had a match with within 3 players of those players etc. etc. etc. The math gets really dumb with numbers this low and makes it basically a zero sum of players able to get a match.
Couple this with the fact that Ankama has gone radio silent yet again and basically every player has been run off by their refusal to address Julith I don't see this ending well anymore. Is Krosmaster over Dewit? Do you or Ankama actually want a beta test? What is the point of all this if there are actually even less players than before the beta? They are certainly not playing the old client instead, I checked.
Might be time to look into asynchronous multiplayer. Similar to long distance chess games where turns can be days apart.
I suppose it was embarrassingly naive of me to actually think 3+ years of absolute abandonment didn't do irreparable damage to your reputation and player base.
